Can AI agents apply to jobs or scrape profiles on Get on Board?

No. On Get on Board, job applications come from verified humans, and scraping or harvesting profile data is banned. AI agents have exactly one sanctioned door into the platform: the Get on Board MCP Server, which lets a recruiter’s own agent search Talent Database and read privacy-safe profiles — read-only, with no contact data, ever. Whether you post jobs or apply to them, this policy is what keeps the marketplace worth your time.

Agents cannot apply to jobs

Every application on Get on Board comes from a professional with a real, signed-in account who answers the job’s questionnaire themselves. There is no professional-side agent access: the MCP server only accepts recruiter team members, and no tool exists to submit, draft, or automate an application on someone’s behalf.

This is deliberate. Companies read applications assuming a person chose that job and wrote those answers. Auto-generated mass applications would bury recruiters in noise, drag response rates down for everyone, and make your genuine application worth less. If you apply as a professional, you are free to use any tool you like to prepare — research the company, improve your profile, draft answers — but the account that applies is yours, and the answers should be too.

Automated or mass-generated applications violate our terms, and accounts that send them can be restricted or removed.

Agents cannot scrape profiles

Scraping, crawling, or bulk-extracting candidate profiles is banned, whether it is done by a bot, a browser extension, or an agent driving a browser. The reason is ownership: the data in Talent Database belongs to the professionals who created their profiles and opted in to be found under specific rules — contact details stay hidden until a company deliberately unlocks them with credits.

Scrapers break that agreement. That is why Get on Board takes the opposite approach from the enrichment-and-scraping stack (Apollo, Lusha, ZoomInfo and similar): instead of guessing contact data harvested elsewhere, the platform returns only what each person agreed to show, and keeps the contact step human and credit-gated.

The same rule applies to job postings: our job moderation policy rejects ads designed to harvest contacts or collect CVs outside the platform, and applications must happen through Get on Board.

What agents can do: assist recruiters through MCP

The sanctioned path for agents is narrow on purpose. If you are a recruiter team member, you can connect the agent you already use to the MCP server at https://www.getonbrd.com/mcp and it gets read-only tools: search Talent Database, read individual privacy-safe profiles, and read your own company’s open jobs.

What that access never includes:

  • No contact data. Email, phone, CV files, and social links are never returned through MCP. Unlocking a candidate stays in the web app and spends credits.
  • No actions. Agents cannot unlock, invite, apply, or post jobs. See the full map in What can an AI agent do (and not do) on Get on Board?
  • No anonymous access. Every call is tied to an authorized recruiter and one company context, with rate limits and short-lived tokens.

This is the difference between an agent scraping a database and an agent querying one on the data owner’s terms. How the boundary is enforced is covered in How does the MCP server protect candidate data?

What this means for you

  • As a professional: no company’s agent can see your contact details, download your CV, or message you through an agent. Being found by an agent search works under the same visibility rules as being found by a human recruiter — and applying remains something only you can do.
  • As a company: you can put an agent to work on sourcing and shortlisting through the MCP server, knowing the profiles you read are opted-in and the contact data you unlock was supplied by the person. And the applications you receive were written by humans who chose your job — what reaches your inbox is signal, not automated volume. That is the starting point for agentic recruitment on Get on Board.

If you spot behavior that looks like scraping or automated applications, report it to info@getonbrd.com.
